Creating new opportunities for young Native American artists to develop the art and craft of storytelling using video and photography.
In 2026 we are launching a new long-term educational project for Native American students to learn the art and craft of documentary storytelling. The ancestors left their stories pecked and painted on the canyon walls. Today’s generation is looking for guidance in sharing their stories and challenges. The project will provide the educational opportunity, encouragement and support for these young emerging storytellers. Naamehnay, in the past, has created visual storytelling workshops for the Red Cloud School in Pine Ridge and for Navajo students in Farmington, NM.
When young individuals can share their stories and history with a broader audience it creates confidence. Creative expression spawns personal growth. Creating art for positive change educates and increases awareness. Young individuals with a creative skill set can carry that forward into their professional careers. Join us on the journey.
